Fisher Youth set-up: Update and Info
Fisher Youth FC was founded in 2017, following Fisher FC’s return to our Bermondsey home. We are first and foremost a community club. Our overriding aim is to provide a fun and safe environment that encourages young players to develop to the best of their ability and offers them the opportunity for regular, competitive football.
We started with two teams at U7 and U8 and nothing makes us prouder than the fact that many of the boys who helped launch the club still wear Fisher’s famous black and white stripes each weekend. Since then we have rapidly expanded and now have teams competing across all age groups between U7 and U14 – our ultimate aim is to have teams competing in every age group up to U18 and to hopefully regularly produce young players capable of making the transition to the senior club.
We are an FA Standard Charter approved club. The club’s coaching is led by former Fisher Athletic player Chris Hiscock, a UEFA A Licence qualified coach, and he is supported by a team of coaches responsible for each of the age group teams. Our teams all compete in the South East London & Kent Youth Football League (SELKENT) and train at both Fisher’s home ground, the St Paul’s Sports Ground in Rotherhithe, and at the City of London Academy Southwark in Bermondsey. For the 2021/22 season, our home matches will be played at the London Marathon Playing Fields near Kidbrooke.
In addition, the club runs a Saturday morning football school at St Paul’s for 4 to 6-year olds to help them learn the basics of the game before stepping up to mini-football.
