Fisher FC slipped up today and suffered their heaviest defeat of the campaign so far against new boys Hollands and Blair.
Good fortune played a hand for the home side but Fisher had their own good fortune when an early penalty shout against them was flagged for off-side. The first hour was even but Blair stepped up the pace in the final 20 minutes or so and sealed victory in emphatic fashion.
Fisher’s goal was scored by attacker Tyrell McLeod-Bartley on the half-hour mark to level Blair’s opening goal on 15 minutes, a header from Anthony Carlton. A fortuitous free kick as half time approached was headed in by Stuart West and the home side went into the break 2-1 up.
After an even first 45 minutes, the balance of play tipped toward Blair. James McDonald scored a brace and in the final 10 minutes, Rob Denness and Jordan Gallagher sealed the rout with well taken goals.
Blair’s win means they move to the top of the Southern Counties East League ahead of Corinthian on goal difference. Fisher remain in 13th.
Fisher manager Dean Harrison shared his thoughts in a post match interview, “It is what it is,” he said in his trademark stolid style. Harrison rarely gives much away and takes victory and defeat with the same measured calmness. “We learn from this,” he continued, “we learn and we move on. We move on to Monday.”
And move on is precisely what they will do. The squad have Sunday to reflect and recover then on to Monday for the South East London derby at home to neighbours and rivals Beckenham Town. Beckenham is Harrison’s previous team so he will be keen to show his ex colleagues what they are missing. A buzzing atmosphere awaits at Champion Hill and everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a thrilling afternoon. Kick off is 3pm.
