Southern Counties East Football League

Sevenoaks Town - Fisher
Saturday 28 November 2015 - 15:00

Despite continuous pressure from the Fish throughout the second half, Sevenoaks nicked a somewhat fortunate three points thanks to a first half free kick (which took a massive deflection en-route to goal).
The Fish look dangerous from the start and asked continuous questions the Oaks backline, with Travis Gregory, Alfie Roche and Shelton Gooden all breaching the defence time and time again, before last ditch challenges rescued the hosts.
The free kick in the 19th minute (announced by the hosts as an own goal) was nearly cancelled out as a long ball over the top released Alfie Roche, but the play was pulled back for an offside call against Sevenoaks before the long pass was played.
Chances were at a premium from then on, with Joel Hannington making several good saves despite being on the receiving end of some clumsy challenges early on. Max Rothwell had the best chance of the first half, firing just wide of the target.
In the second half, the Fish took control of the game as they searched for a leveller, with Veejay Miller and Rob Curtis working well down the wings, getting the balance between defending and creativity spot on throughout the half.
It was a move started from the back which saw some intricate approach play set up Travis Gregory who forced a fingertip save from the Oaks goalkeeper late on as an equaliser began to look inevitable. Moments later a well placed through ball from Curtis released Roche who cut in from the wing before being hacked down in the box. The referee opted to award a corner which the Oaks were able to deal with.
The result means that the Oaks have pulled off the double over us this season (for the first time since the 2010/11 season).
