After an encouraging 3-0 win over Holmesdale, Fisher were hoping to continue to show improvements when Corinthian visited Champion Hill on Saturday.
Unfortunately another tale of second half misery saw the Longfield based visitors ease to a 5-1 win.
The first half was a fairly even display with Corinthian just shading the play and showing signs of danger up front right from the early stages. In the early stages Billy Walton showed promising signs of solidity with some strong and effective defending. But it was in the 17th minute that Corinthian opened the scoring when Mohammed Eisa converted a direct free kick from just outside the box.
Fisher hit back and equalised courtesy of Troy Abbey five minutes later, a placed finish under the keeper’s body. Despite chances for both sides the scores remained level throughout the rest of what was a very disjointed half with a couple of Fisher players being booked for seemingly innocuous challenges.
The second half started in much the same vein that the first had ended. Corinthian went on the attack and rather predictably stretched the Fish back line. Jamie Taylor threw in a challenge which resulted in a penalty in the 51th minute, and Diego DaSilva converted to restore the visitors lead. Minutes later a second goal from Eisa made it 3-1 and gave the Fish a mountain to climb.
Fisher struggled to settle as Corinthian pressed to stretch their lead and in truth never looked like causing Corinthian any major problems. At the other end Adam Highsted pulled off a few fine saves to deny the visitors.
The game continued to be a scrappy, niggly affair and there was a degree of unnecessary pressure put on the match officials although the referee coped well and resisted some of the more vociferous calls from the pitch and the sideline to reduce the Fish to ten men. The game suffered and became a rather forgettable affair in all departments for the Fish as Micheal Hagan nudged home a fourth for the visitors in the 86th minute before Jack Mahoney sugar coated the result for the visitors by inflicting more misery on Fisher with the fifth goal.
