Fisher 0 - 1 Erith Town
Monday 6 August 2012 - 19:30

In a game of few clear cut chances, Fisher went down to a single goal defeat courtesy of a Marcos Perona penalty fourteen minutes from time.
Full back Danny Taylor could have few complaints bringing down Harry Montgomery in the box to pick up his second yellow of the night to compound a disappointing evening for the Fish who finished with ten men.
After Saturday’s heroics in claiming a well deserved point on the road at Tunbridge Wells, this was always going to be a tough ask rising to the occasion just 48 hours later against potential league champions Erith Town.
Town looked the fresher in the early exchanges and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but the well marshalled Fisher defence held firm limiting the visitors to long range efforts on goal. Erith continued to pummel the Fisher box with long throws and corners but again Town got little change out of the back five. The Fish improved as the half wore on with the midfield trio of Richie Monan, Zak Henry and Adam Wadmore stamping their authority on the middle territory. Fisher’s promising approach play however lacked a cutting edge and the front players were guilty of overplaying in the final third when a shot on goal looked the better option.
The Fish continued to push forward in the second period and visiting Town keeper was called into action on the hour mark palming away a vicious Wadmore free kick from more than 30 yards. From the resulting corner Zak Henry’s powerful header was again saved in spectacular fashion but the linesman had previously flagged for offside. Erith continued to pose a threat on the breakaway and just when it seemed a goaless draw was the most likely outcome Perona sent Firkins the wrong way from the spot.
