Fisher fell to another defeat by the odd goal, and this time errors at the back meant that a promising display going forward drew no reward.
The home side’s superior physical ability was put to good effect in the Fisher box, as two goals were conceded from headers as the Fish failed to clear their lines. Deal opened the game the stronger side, and Billy Hensman was called into action early on to keep out a free kick. Fisher responded and Jordan Green shot over before Marvin Alebiosu fired wide from a Damien Ramsamy cross.
Deal opened the scoring on 23 minutes, as a free-kick was delivered from the right and was headed back across goal where Ian Wallace converted from a yard out. Fisher went back on the attack and Alebiosu put Ramsamy through but his shot was deflected wide. The resulting corner was scrambled clear but Fisher were looking dangerous going forward with Green and Ramsamy both very lively in the wide positions.
Green created the last chance of the half as he beat his full-back then picked out Alebiosu ten yards out, but Alebiosu’s placed shot went wide. Deal went into half-time leading 1-0.
Immediately after half-time Fisher fell further behind, again to a header after a set piece was not dealt with. And again Fisher responded well, this time getting some reward as the lively Ramsamy crossed for Alebiosu who scored with a marvellous flicked finish.
But just four minutes later Deal restored their two goal cushion. Ramsamy, making probably his only mistake of the game, lost possession deep in his own half. Luke Bigginton received the gift and curled an absolute beauty from the edge of the box beyond Hensman’s reach.
Fisher tried hard to get back into the game, but were unable to fashion a clear breakthrough until the final minute when Ramsamy once again was the spark, this time racing clear and finding Steve O’Donnell 8 yards out with the goal at his mercy. O’Donnell made no mistake but there was no time left for the Fish to mount another attack, and Deal took the three points.
