Pre Season Friendly

Fisher 4 - 2 Lewisham Borough
Friday 5 August 2011 - 19:45

Fisher’s Danny Hunt scored twice to help overcome a committed Lewisham Borough side in the club’s final pre-season friendly.
The Fish led when Peter Afolayan slotted home a well placed effort in the bottom corner on 20 minutes. Borough replied through a good pass and move culminating in a clinical shot from their forward on the stroke of half-time.
Hunt then restored Fisher’s lead from the penalty spot with a fierce effort into the top left corner after a somewhat debatable foul by the Borough full back on the hour mark.
On 68 minutes Hunt grabbed his brace slotting home from 10 yards.
Lewisham again responded thanks to a neat finish by their central midfielder after some slick one and two touch passing that cut through the Fisher defence.
Substitute Nathaniel Bell sealed the victory in the final minute after fellow substitute Steve O’Donnell had his effort blocked.
After the game Fisher manager Steve Firkins said, “We’ve beaten a decent team here tonight. I don’t think they’ll be a push over in their division this season, they played some good stuff and worked us hard.I think there’s lots of positives for us to take out of tonight’s game. I’m pleased with the fitness and commitment from my players and it’s always pleasing to come out of pre-season with no major injuries. The finishing was a lot better tonight I thought, and thats something we’ve been working on in training. I’m disappointed however with the two goals we’ve conceded. Fair play they were two well worked goals but it was us giving away possession in the first place, that’s something I want to look at in training this week. We can always improve but I’m glad with how pre-seasons gone for us overall, we’re looking sharp and in good shape for Saturday”
