FA Vase First Qualifying Round

Fisher 2 - 1 Ringwood Town
Sunday 5 September 2010 - 15:00

A 94th minute winner from debutante Rob Hughes saw the Fish home against a well organised Ringwood Town side.
Fisher celebrated Non League Day with the best crowd seen in a competitive fixture so far this season at Champion Hill as 160 witnessed a two hour slugging match.
With brothers Bryan and Anthony Glover departing the club earlier in the week, manager Gary Lisney gave debuts to three new signings. Goalkeeper Mark Fox replaced the suspended Adam Lisney in goal whilst Rob Hughes (formerly of Oxford United) and ex-Croydon FC playmaker Adrian Ma bolstered the midfield.
The home side made a dream start after only two minutes when Ma was allowed a second bite of the cherry following a corner kick, smashing the ball into the roof of the net on the turn from eight yards out.
Ringwood went on to boss long spells against a resolute Fish and finally equalised on 56 minutes. The ref was the only person in the ground to see a push on Paul Burnett in the box and Nick Howes sent Fox the wrong way from the spot to keep both sides on level terms going into extra time. That’s when Hughes stepped up to play a neat one-two with Jamie ‘Digger’ Lawrence on the edge of the box before firing a shot which took a wicked deflection wrong-footing John Page in the Ringwood goal.
Fisher coasted the remainder of the extra thirty minutes frustrating the visitor’s which resulted in Tom Yeates seeing an early bath after a foul on Mark Lewis with just four minutes left.
Fisher now welcome fellow Kent League rivals to Champion Hill on Sunday 19th September – 3pm KO in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round.
