Fisher’s hopes of improving on last years league position were dented as a late Wayne Robinson goal secured victory for league rivals Holmesdale at Champion Hill.
Marco Bianchi made his debut for the Fish in a side that was missing George Savage and Ernest Simon to suspension. Fisher struggled to find a foothold in the game as Holmesdale dominated the first half, passing the ball around well and using the width of the pitch, with debutants Ethan Pinnock and midfielder Nicholas Gonsalves standing out for the vistitors.
One minute after the break however it was Fisher who went ahead, when Luis Rozen’s free-kick was met by a powerful Dwayne Cowan header. The goal sparked Fisher and for a period they looked back in contention, with Bianchi having a busy debut and the returning Juan Ramirez coming off the bench to run at the Holmesdale defence.
As the half progressed, Holmesdale’s reagined the initiative and when Michael McKenna’s back-post header from a Lee Scott cross levelled the score it was just reward for their efforts. With Holmesdale back on the front foot, Robinson won it, latching on to a Kevin George chip before sprinting to the edge of the area and placing a shot past Adam Lisney and into the top right hand corner.
