Faversham Town 0 - 1 Fisher
Saturday 20 March 2010 - 15:00

Fisher made it three wins on the bounce with their best scalp yet away at run-away league leaders Faversham Town.
After a miserable mid-season run that saw eight defeats in nine, renewed optimism has returned to the club who still have a London Senior Cup Quarter Final to look forward to next Wednesday against Croydon Athletic. Before that, Gary Lisney’s side play Erith Town at home on Monday night keen to extend their unbeaten run to five.
Faversham manager Justin Luchford mentioned in the local press prior to the game that Fisher would be extremely keen to end Town’s season long unbeaten home record and so it proved as the visitor’s went about their daunting task with great conviction from the off.
Jamie Lawrence came into the side for the injured Elstrom Die (Back) but otherwise Lisney fielded an unchanged line up from last week’s 2-1 victory over Tunbridge Wells.
The hosts looked lethargic in the opening exchanges as the strong wind meant a long ball game was almost redundant – the ball regularly finding touch to the relief of the Fish defence.
Fisher’s attacking threat grew as the half progressed, Cedric Abraham’s strength and general presence continued to ruffle the feathers of the home teams backline. Abraham’s headed flick on from a Louis Sprosen centre on 22 minutes gave Fisher their first clear site of goal as Rafael Akala nipped in at the back post to flick the ball passed Rob French and give Fisher a deserved lead.
The visitor’s continued to dominate their high-flying hosts and should have made it two just a minute later. Bryan Glover’s searching ball from midfield sent Abraham clear and with just the on-rushing French to beat the number nine’s lobbed finish looked destined to find the back of the net but the ball bounced agonisingly over the crossbar.
10 minutes later the Fish fashioned another excellent chance, this time playmaker Sprosen’s well timed through ball fell to Luke Coleman but French was quickly out to save with his legs.
Faversham struggled to find any change from an organised Fish defence well drilled by recent new signing Jamie Beaucamp who put in a Man-of-the-Match display. Richard Sinden finally found an opening five minutes before the break but the finish fell two yards the wrong side of the far post.
In the second period, the hosts dominated proceedings growing increasingly desperate to keep hold of their long standing home record but Fisher’s defensive barrier held firm. A deluge of long throws and corners was continually met by a Fisher head or boot and sent to safety. Adam Lisney was forced into just one save of note, a free-kick on the edge of the box on 75 minutes beat the wall but was helped on its way by Lisney and out for a corner.
The referee added on eight minutes of extra time which followed five in the first but there was no way through for the Lilywhites. Finally at 4:58pm the final whistle blew and Fisher toasted another excellent win.
