It was always going to be tough for Fisher against league leaders Erith & Belvedere, but a disastrous defensive performance in the first half saw the Fish well beaten.
Fisher were undone four times before half-time, three times in the air, and while the performance improved in the second half the visitors added two late goals to further gloss the scoreline. The Deres were on top from the start of the game and they scored on eleven minutes as Richmond Kissi met a flicked-on free kick at the far post. After that opener, the game was a fairly even contest for a while although Fisher were unable to carve out any chances.
Erith & Belvedere added their second after twenty-five minutes although as Andy Constable was played through on goal the assistant referee raised his flag for offside. Constable rounded Alex Hyde in the Fisher goal and finished the move off, and the referee over ruled his assistant, who had a difficult afternoon. It was the correct decision, as the ball through had clearly been played inadvertently by a Fisher player.
Five minutes later it was three and the game was killed as a contest. This time another cross to the far post, from the left-hand side was headed home by Paul Springett. Well on top, the Deres began to pepper the goal with long range shots and Hyde made an excellent save to deny Kieron McCann. Just before half-time Constable was on hand to nod home a free-kick and it was 4-0.
The second half was a more even contest, though Kissi missed a sitter before Marvin Alebiosu and Aaron Jeffrey made some inroads for Fisher. Alebiosu should have scored when played through on goal – he looked to be some distance offside, but the assistant kept his flag by his side this time – however his shot was wide of the post.
Late on, Alex Waugh scored another headed goal for the visitors and in stoppage time Lewis Wood netted the sixth goal. It was a comprehensive defeat for Fisher, albeit against an Erith & Belvedere side that had a distinct physical advantage, giving Billy Walton and Martin Ford a headache as they look for an improved performance when Fisher travel to Lordswood next Saturday.
