Fisher had 17 year old goalkeeper Billy Hensman to thanks as his first half heroics set the team up for a victory at local rivals Beckenham.
Beckenham, who Fisher hadn’t beaten for over two years, took the lead early in the game but goals from Danny Willis and Harvey Hanifan secured the points for the Fish in their last game of the season.
Hensman pulled off a string of outstanding saves in the first half as Fisher put in a ragged performance, though he was unable to stop former Fisher player Damien Ramsamy from opening the scoring on 12 minutes. It could have been more for Beckenham but Hensman was unbeatable for the rest of the game, the highlight of his performance a superb leaping tip over the bar from an Alfie Nunn header.
Fisher had first half chances too, as Richie Monan’s shot was saved on to the post after a fine move, and Jason Mabbs should have scored a free header but he missed the target. The equaliser came, aganst the run of play, as Mabbs released Hanifan with a fine left foot pass. Hanifan spotted the run of striker Willis and slotted the ball through and Willis placed a superb finish past onrushing keeper Sam Percival.
The second half was a different story and after a slow start Fisher asserted dominance as the game wore on. Billy Walton missed a superb chance at the far post, and Mark Lewis had a powerful headed goal disallowed. The winner came from a pinpoint Danny Akers cross which was glanced home by Hanifan from six yards out.
The win sees Fisher finish the season in 14th place, a fine recovery after a dreadful first half to the campaign.
