Kent League Cup First Round First Leg

Beckenham Town 4 - 0 Fisher
Saturday 23 October 2010 - 15:00

Fisher left Eden Park Avenue with nothing to show for their efforts, losing heavily in this Kent Premier Cup 1st Leg.
Despite the one sided score line Fisher enjoyed at least 50% of possession but proved wasteful in the final third whilst the ball hit the back of the net seemingly with every attack the home side could muster.
The visitor’s carved out the first real opening of the first period when forward Steve O’Donnell hit the post with a bullet header from a Luis Rozan centre.
Beckenham grew into the game as the half wore on passing the ball well on their excellent pitch. However their first goal was route one, a long searching ball got the better of Cedric Abraham and Anthony Weir latched on to slip the ball passed Adam Lisney.
Beckenham doubled their lead just a minute later. Lisney failed to hold a tame long shot and Weir clinically made the keeper pay bagging a quick-fire brace. Fisher’s response was encouraging with O’Donnell once again going close meeting a Jamie Lawrence cross but the header flew a foot over the crossbar.
The Fish came out with purpose after the break looking to get back in the tie, from a corner O’Donnell’s neat goal-bound flick was cleared off the line and then just two minutes later Fisher’s number nine turned his marker but once again the post came to Beckenham’s rescue.
As the game became more stretched Town stretched their lead further, Dave Waters met a cross to head into the bottom corner and virtually with the last kick of the game, Nathan Paul hit a fine volley leaving Lisney rooted to the spot.
Both sides have to do it all over again at Champion Hill next Saturday in the second leg.
