Sevenoaks Town broke their four year winless streak at Champion Hill on Saturday, taking home three points with a 3-0 win over the Fish.
The Oaks got off the mark early on, with Chan Quan scoring after just three minutes. Fisher took a while to settle but started to come to life as the first half progressed, twice hitting the bar and forcing a couple of good saves from Oaks goalkeeper Richard Stroud. Shining lights in the Fish line up were eventual Man Of the Match Taylor Thomas and Tyrell McLeod-Bentley who both worked tirelessly down the wings. Rob Curtis seemed unusually calm in the heart of defence, together with Gassimu Jalloh, did well to limit chances for the visitors.
The second half saw Sevenoaks once again add an early goal, doubling their lead within minutes of the restart through Michael Fahm’s shot which should have been an easy save for Denzil Kobia. Then just after the hour mark the Fish backline disappeared and with Kobia off his line (and after some good footwork from the onrushing midfield, left on the floor), Fahm was free to fire home, despite best efforts of the retreating Jalloh.
Shelton Gooden came on midway through the second half but was unable to make the desired impact on the game, and it was a similar story when Besfort Sadiku replaced Alfie Roche with fifteen minutes left to play.
The day was not a total disappointment however, with the crowd hitting a three year high of 189, and community organisations Bermondsey Community Kitchen and Cherry Garden School enjoying the day at Champion Hill.
