A terrific display of attacking football and a second hat-trick of the season for left back Lorenzo Duncan paved the way for Fisher’s comprehensive 5-0 victory at Holmesdale, to consolidate their second place position in the SCEFL Premier Division. After travel difficulties had caused havoc to pre match preparations for the midweek visit to Rusthall, Saturday morning was a smoother affair with Tom Jones and Alex Kozak able to be restored to the starting lineup. On the bench there was a heartening return for Chibueze Echem, just shy of seven months after his complicated leg break against Jersey in the FA Cup.
Playing up the slope, Fisher made a positive start getting good ball out to both Rafael Garcia and Alez Kozak on either wing, though had to repel a couple of good deliveries into their own box with Isaac Ogubseri claiming well, aided by Fisher’s tactic of leaving four players up when defending dead balls, allowing him an uncluttered area. On nine minutes Fisher took the lead having forced a corner on the right from Jack Gibbons’ overlapping run. Gibbons took it quickly, short, to Garcia who jinked past a defender before sending in a measured cross that found Lorenzo Duncan ghosting into space unmarked to nod hone from eight yards out. With Armani Jordan Martin pulling the strings in midfield Fisher were on top of their game and moving the ball around with purpose on a slick surface. More good work from Kozak on the left flank, combining with Martin saw the ball delivered along the edge of the six yard box but Garcia couldn’t turn it home at the back post    as Fisher forced several good positions without adding to the score. It wasn’t to matter though as just past the half hour mark Fisher doubled their lead. Kozak drove to the by line on the left and his cross was picked up at the near post by Festos Kamara who twisted to make space and his recycled ball across the box was deflected into the path of Lorenzo Duncan who rolled the ball on the turn back inside the near post.
Any hope Holmesdale had of getting back into the game disappeared moments later when Malachi Hudson’s unwise challenge on Adejola Lahan as he cleared his lines inside the Fisher half was rightly punished with a red card, leaving his team mates to try and stem a rampant Fisher a man down. Fisher needed no second invitation and before the break totally sealed the game as great work down the left with Kamara, Martin and Kozak all combining saw a cross delivered for Garcia to lay off for Lorenzo Duncan who had time to switch the ball onto his favoured foot and chip it out of reach of the keeper for his twentieth goal of the season and his second first half hattrick, incredibly both from the left back slot – a true disciple of total football! There was still time before the break for Fisher to add a fourth as Martin threaded a ball through for Gracia and he laid it back into the path of Alex Kozak to calmly pick his spot with Holmesdale‘s defenders again guilty of allowing Fisher far too much space in their own area.
To their credit Holmesdale, despite being a man down managed to tighten up in the second spell though perhaps coming with a lack of attacking intent and Fisher, with the game in the bag, slightly dropped the intensity with the back four pushing the ball around themselves rather than quickly feeding the wingers. However, the nature of the game allowed for a perfect opportunity for a comeback cameo for Chibueze Echem and his quick footwork and strength made space for a late chance for fellow substitute Michael Sarpong who drilled his shot goalward but straight at the keeper.  Fisher did round the game off with a fifth goal though as deep into stoppage time they forced a corner on the right and turning down the option of a short one to see out time, Kozak whipped it over for Festos Kamara to nip in at the near the post and force the ball over the line to round off a commanding win.
