Canterbury City 3 - 0 Fisher
Saturday 20 September 2014 - 15:00

Fisher slipped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Canterbury City on Saturday despite dominating possession and creating several good chances.
While the Fish could claim to have had much of the play, particularly in the first half, they missed the presence of the injured Calum McGeehan and were grateful for a fine performance from Adam Highsted in goal.
It was Canterbury who had the first attempt of the game, with Adam Highsted being forced into an important save after just three minutes. Fisher’s first chance came a minute later when they won a corner. Danny Maguire whipped a high ball into the box but Jay Garrick could only head over from short range.
Fisher continued to look dangerous throughout the first half with Kieron Campbell and Richard Morgan, among others, causing Canterbury continuous problems. Danny Maguire nearly set up a superb chance for Jay Garrick but the through ball to marginally over hit and scampered away to be collected by Canterbury’s goalkeeper.
Jamie Taylor sent a well-placed high through ball to Jay Garrick in the 36th minute which Garrick struck on the volley only to see a fingertip save deny him of the goal that the move deserved. Kieron Campbell produced a fine follow up effort which won the Fish a corner. Canterbury cut out the danger from the set piece and broke forward but couldn’t trouble Highsted.
Richard Morgan then did well to win a corner as he battled his way into the box, which created a chance for Danny Maguire whose shot was saved at the near post. Minutes later Morgan was set up by Campbell, but saw his well struck effort pass agonisingly wide of the far post.
Canterbury had one more chance before the break, and with Adam Highsted beaten by the shot, the cross bar came to Fisher’s rescue to keep the scores level at the break.
After the break, it took just a minute for Canterbury to finally get the better of Highsted, with Rob Lawrence tucking home the opening goal. Fisher went straight forward from the restart but couldn’t create a clear chance.
Fisher looked tame in front of goal throughout the second half and simply didn’t test Canterbury’s goalkeeper enough. In contrast, after the goal Canterbury came to life and continued to create chances, forcing several good saves from Highsted who did well to keep the scores at 1-0 for so long.
Ultimately Canterbury extended their lead in the 76th minute courtesy of another good finish from Rob Lawrence. Despite the introductions of Troy Abbey and Alfie Roche to freshen things up upfront Fisher continued to struggle going forward.
Two minutes from time Greg Skinner rounded off a strong second half display from the hosts with City’s third goal of the afternoon, adding insult to injury for Fisher who now move on to Holmesdale (on Tuesday evening) before welcoming Corinthian to Champion Hill on Saturday.
