Fisher 0 - 1 Woodstock Sports
Saturday 22 November 2014 - 15:00

Fisher slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home when they welcomed Woodstock Sports to Champion Hill on Saturday.
Fisher handed a debut to centre-back Michael Olaweraju, and the game could have been over very early on as Max Rothwell caused problems to Woodstock’s backline, only to see play halted by the linesman’s flag.
Minutes later after showing signs of making a breakthrough, a rash tackle from Kareem Boyle saw Fisher reduced to ten men as Boyle was shown a straight red card. Fisher continued to push forward and won several corners, but were unable to get the better of the opposition goalkeeper.
The numerical advantage the visitors now had didn’t show straight away, but they did begin to move the ball around with more conviction, but good debut displays from Olaweraju and Cherno Mendy, plus a few good saves from Justin Lee between the posts, dealt with what little danger Woodstock created.
The game remained goalless until the break, which Fisher could realistically be disappointed by given the quality of the chances they had created.
After the break Fisher should have been awarded an early corner, but a questionable call from the referee saw Woodstock awarded a goal-kick, much to the dismay of the vocal Fisher supporters. As the second half settled Fisher began to look less dangerous and Woodstock began to threaten going forward.
In the 62nd minute Woodstock took advantage of some miscommunication at the back, which left Brett Ince with the task of scoring which he took with ease. Fisher were denied a way back in when protests fell on deaf ears after Piers Hanifan was shoved off the ball in the penalty area during a promising looking attack.
Max Rothwell continued to cause problems, and when Mark Chiverton was introduced, hopes of an equaliser were heightened, but ultimately a goal never came and Woodstock took three points back to Sittingbourne.
