Whyteleafe 7 - 2 Fisher
Saturday 22 March 2014 - 15:00

Whyteleafe continued on their march to what they hope will be the league title with an impressive 7-2 win over Fisher on Saturday.
They were on the front foot from the second minute when Dylan Merchant fired the hosts ahead. Things got better for the Leafe when Merchant headed home from a corner ten minutes later to double their lead.
Fisher then started to get themselves settled and began to create chances, the best of which fell to Junior James who saw his headed effort fly wide of the post. James found the back of the net with his next header as he pulled Fisher back into the game in the 23rd minute.
Fisher began to press forward in hunt of an equaliser and had a couple of chances to pull level. Whyteleafe’s defence held out until the 32nd minute, when a rather tame looking effort from Junior James slid through Jay Garrick’s legs before scampering past the goalkeeper to make it 2-2.
Whyteleafe then started to push again, and despite having a few decent opportunities, didn’t regain the lead until the 45th minute. As Roscoe Dsane broke forward, it appeared that Fish goalkeeper Charles Hedley had the ball in his hands. As it turned out, he didn’t, and Dsane regained possession and slotted the ball home to make it 3-2 in favour of the hosts at half time.
Despite the introduction of Kieron Campbell during the break, Fisher couldn’t find a way back into the game and were punished by their in-form opponents for a combination of slow defending and poor control. A simple move in the 52nd minute put Leafe 4-2 courtesy of Ryan Fowler, and Bentley Graham added goal five in the 61st minute.
Fisher replaced Jay Garrick with Stephen Ita although the change didn’t have the desired effect, and Fisher continued to find things difficult going forward. Although chances were coming for the Fish, no-one was able to get enough power on a shot to even worry the Leafe’s goalkeeper.
Whyteleafe’s Taylor Smith added goal number six in the 72nd minute with an easy tap in and Fisher failed to cut out the danger to make the score-line just a little more comfortable for the hosts. Smith then rounded off a good afternoon for the Surrey club when he added a seventh four minutes from time.
