Fisher cruised into the third round of the SCEFL Challenge Cup with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Division One side Welling Town, under the lights at St Paul’s. Whilst changes were made to the line-up, Fisher still fielded a strong looking side, retaining the same midfield as used in Saturday’s league win at Sutton Athletic. At the back though only Ange Djadja remained, with Michael Sarpong, Jola Lahan and Kelvin Bakare all coming in and Omari Williams replaced Rafael Garcia on the wing with David Mata coming in for Lorenzo Duncan on the other flank.
Fisher started the game on the front foot, with plenty of possession and the game was pretty much played out in the Welling half as Fisher patiently moved the ball around looking for openings. The opening goal arrived on ten minutes, when Kelvin Bakare got forward down the left  and his cross was punched away by impressive youngster Zak Howard in the Welling goal, but only far as Flavio Jumo, whose shot on the turn was deflected into the path of Jake Lovell, who was able to take a touch and tap the ball home past a lone defender on the goal line, albeit from a suspiciously looking offside position.
A rare foray into the Fisher half gave Welling Town a good chance to equalise, with Isaac Ogunseri forced into a good low save to his left after winger Leo Onye had run into the left channel of the area and got his shot away. A long range free kick brought a more regulation save from Ogunseri at his near post, but this was in truth as close as Welling got to causing any threat to the Fisher back line.
A second Fisher goal arrived midway through the half, as Omari Williams cushioned a header from Michael Sarpong’s deep cross into the path of Jake Lovell who added his second from close range with neat finish. Fisher continued to dominate with further first half chances falling to Flavio Jumo, whose header was straight at a well-placed Howard. The Welling keeper then saved at full stretch to his left from Omari Williams’ well hit volley and Tom Jones curled a free kick against the post, with Williams adjudged offside as he converted the rebound.
As they have been in recent games, Fisher were not punished for the missed chances, as they found their scoring boots in the second half. Omari Williams took just seven minutes to add a third, calmly bringing the ball down and tucking his shot away from ten yards out after Jumo’s cross from the right found its way through to him peeling off behind the last defender.  It was four just two minutes  later when Harry Beech turned in Jones’ cross into his own goal at the near post after Tom Jones had got free down the right wing with Fisher finding too much space across the pitch.
Substitute Sha’mar Lawson was next on the scoresheet, with ten minutes remaining, as
Howard pulled off an outstanding double save to deny fellow substitute Marko Jovanovic and David Mata’s close range efforts only for Lawson to be on hand to nudge the ball over the line from just under the cross bar. The rout was completed in the final minute as Lawson grabbed his second when powerfully heading home Conor Darwish’s corner to make it six.
With progress also made in the London Senior Cup, Kent Senior Trophy and the FA Vase and catch up games to come in the league, Fisher face a busy winter as the look to land some silverware.
