A late Lorenzo Duncan equaliser earned Fisher a share of the spoils in a tightly fought SECFL Premier Division game against Larkfield & New Hythe. Fisher went into the game missing Rafael Garcia with a strained thigh, meaning Tyron Mbuenimo played in an unaccustomed right wing position with Jake Lovell switching to the left as they looked to make it five wins on the spin in all competitions.
Fisher carved out the games first chance as Festos Kamara’s back heeled flick from Jake Lovell’s low cross went just wide of the near post. Kamara’s pace was causing problems and when he was brought down just outside the box, Michael Sarpong’s free kick crashed into the Larks wall. However, Fisher’s good start counted for little as the visitors took the lead just before the quarter of an hour mark. A lobbed ball into the left channel of the box found Matt Day and he neatly flicked the ball back inside Jack Gibbons before curling a low effort into the far corner, giving Taylor no chance.
Fisher responded well to the setback and Kamara saw an overhead kick pass wide of the post after Tom Jones sent in a deep corner that was headed back across goal. Jones also went close himself when a mazy run across the edge of the penalty area ended with him fizzing an effort just over the bar.
As the half wore on the game became more attritional with some heavy challenges in midfield breaking up play, with Fisher trying to match the power of their opponents rather than focusing on their own pattern of play. An interception on half way by Gibbons saw him curl a peach of a ball around the Larkfield centre backs but Jake Lovell running onto it, lifted his shot wide with the keeper stranded and then Gibbons himself drew a fine save from Collins after the Fisher captain strode out of defence and sent in a low shot that looked to be creeping in at the far post. Collins then also denied Tyron Mbuenimo at the back post as he looked to nudge home Jones teasing cross.
Fisher’s best move of the half saw them move the ball through six players before setting Mbuenimo down the right and his deep cross was almost turned home by Kamara at the back post with a combination of defender an keeper doing just enough to stop him cleanly connecting with the loose ball, as Fisher’s frustration rising at not grabbing the equaliser their play before the break deserved.
The second half started with Fisher forcing a series of corners which were cleared, if slightly unconvincingly by the Larks defence.   At the other end the Fisher defence were dealing well with the threat of former Fisher front man Kesna Clarke, who was excellently marshalled by Ange Djadja and as a result had little sight of goal. Fisher continued to deliver plenty of balls into the Larkfield box, but the visitors were standing up to all thrown at them.  Kamara was inches away from connecting with Jones fine cross as it flashed across the goal mouth.  Lorenzo Duncan, Kelvin Bakere, Omari Williams and Blake Loyza all came off the bench as Fisher tried to conjure up the formula to grab the equaliser.
With four minutes remaining Fisher finally got on level terms. Urged on by the vocal Dockers stand, Tom Jones spread the ball out to Jack Gibbons on the right and his pinpoint cross found Lorenzo Duncan nipping between two defenders to flick his diving header across Collins in the Larkfield goal and into the net. Injury time saw both sides pushing for a winner with Jones and Bakare both seeing shots charged down and a couple of balls flashing across the Fisher goal mouth and a superb piece of defending from Ange Djadja smuggling the ball off the feet of Ibe as he looked poised to shoot, ensuring the points were shared.
