A second half hat-trick from substitute trialist Thomas Ngegba secured Fisher a comfortable 3-1 win in a late arranged friendly game at the Robert Clack Leisure Centre in Dagenham.
With game time given to those who missed out on Tuesday and last Saturday and a last chance for some trialists to stake a claim for a squad place, it was a very changed line up for the Fish. However, they started brightly and Tobi Irefin broke through for two good one on one chances that were smartly saved by Kieran Bennett in the hosts goal. The keeper also saved well from two long range free kicks and when beaten was saved by a tight offside call.
Depsite the majority of the half being played in the hosts half, Fisher could not find the goal and fell foul to a high line catching the forwards offside far too often.
Several changes at half time improved the attacking options and just five minutes in saw the opening goal, as Michael Dare’s run down the right saw a well flighted cross headed home by Thomas Ngegba. A second soon followed as Ngegba beat the offside trap and slipped the ball past the keeper. Dare then had goal ruled out for offside when cutting in from the left and on switching flanks saw a shot bounce back off the post as Fisher looked in full control.
Ngegba then completed his hat trick when dispatching a penalty kick after Dare was felled in the box and Irefin fired high and wide twice in quick succession following quick breaks against a tiring back line.
On the stroke of full time the hosts grabbed a consolation goal from a good through ball down the left channel and neat finish.
