Wednesday’s trip to Croydon gave Tunde Aderonmu a real chance to shine as the Fish cruised to a 5-0 victory over their South London Rivals.

In front of 95 supporters (including 22 travelling Fish fans), the hosts has the better start, forcing a corner within the first two minutes. The Fish back line held tight and cleared the danger. The first real move forward from the Fish saw Mathieu Ramsamy released down the right wing, but beaten to a well-placed pass by the out rushing Trams goalkeeper.

It didn’t take long for the breakthrough to come, with Aderonmu pouncing on a loose ball in the box after an initial effort was blocked. A quick touch allowed Aderonmu to slot the ball home past the keeper’s out stretched right arm to give the Fish a 1-0 lead.

With Ritchie Hamill tucked in at left back after missing Saturday’s game, Luke Haidarovic took charge of the centre of midfield and did well to create moves for those ahead of him. It was a long switching ball forward from Hamill that created the next key chance for the Fish as he found Ramsamy in acres of space. Ramsamy released a cross which was cleared away for a corner, which the Fish couldn’t take advantage of.

Another corner from Hamill a few minutes later was meant by Mudiagha Wanogho who headed home his fourth of the season, which put him level with Trey Small who was forced to miss the game through injury.

With the Fish looking comfortable with a two goal cushion, the midfield started to get a little more creative, mixing things up with a range of longer passes complimenting the usual sharp movement.

In the 38th minute, another well placed finish from Aderonmu made it 3-0 at the end of a good move in to the box from Ramsamy. There was time for one more dangerous attack before the break, which saw Ramsamy burst in to the box before seeing his effort saved at the near post, with Rob Brown begging for a cross on the other side of the box.

The second half continued in the same fashion, with the Fish going all out to boost the gaol difference column in the league table. Rob Brown first sent an effort agonisingly wide of the target with the Trams keeper well beaten. Before the hour mark Tunde Aderonmu completed his Hat-Trick, making sure an effort from Rob Brown made it over the line on a bumpy and difficult pitch.

Dean Harrison made three changes in 13 minutes just after the hour mark with Afilabi Soyemi-Ololade replacing Chandler Kasai, who’s work down the left had caused problems all night. Aderonmu was then allowed an early finish when Sam Pekun was introduced before Toyo Adeshina replaced Rob Brown.

The three subs combined well to pull the Trams back line apart on several occasions. The best chance created by the three saw Pekun booked for a soft foul as he tried to recover the ball from his marker on the edge of the penalty area. Soyemi-Ololade then had a shot saved at the near post, which won the Fish another corner. Having learned nothing from Wanogho’s earlier goal, the Trams this time gave Haidarovic far too much space which allowed him to head home number five.

There was still time for more action. Adeshina was barged off the ball and won a free kick in the area of the pitch now known as “Hamill Territory”, but the deep ball in to the box was collected by the goalkeeper. Pat Geddis who had been his usual solid self in defensive midfield was then booked for blocking a free-kick for a foul he conceded.

The Trams couldn’t find an opening and the Fish sealed a 5-0 win. The biggest win since Stansted in Pre-Season and a much needed clean sheet to go with it. Forza Fisher
