On a cold wet and very windy afternoon Fisher travelled to meet a Lordswood side featuring several new players as the hosts looked to climb from the lower reaches of the table. Fisher too gave league debuts to new signings Matt Nevzal and Neil Spencer, who had featured in the midweek league cup extra time win over Welling Town.
Fisher looked to have mastered the conditions the better in the early exchanges with several chances arising for Lordswood overplaying at the back and being robbed in possession. The first of these fell to Harry Main but he decided to take his chance early with a chipped effort that drifted wide when taking it further forward to commit the keeper may have been a better option. Main was presented with a second gilt edged chance when intercepting a sideways pass but dragged his low effort wide of the post after again taking the chance early. It became a hat trick of misses when spencer robbed Hunter of possession just outside the box and fired a powerful drive goal wards that the hosts keeper comfortably palmed away. The resulting corner was wasted due to a poor delivery – not for the only time during the afternoon.
Fisher were made to pay for the misses as having pushed away a low effort for a corner Dan Carpanini was left exposed by a lack of marking from the set play and Charlie Tagg powered home a header from close range.
Fisher were given a chance to regroup due to a delay whilst an injured assistant referee received treatment and with manager Ajay Ashanike’s words ringing in their ears immediately got back on level terms as Temi Oladejo’s low cross was controlled on the run by Matt Nevzal who slammed home form twelve yards.
With the assistant referee now unable to continue there was a further length delay to the end of the first half as a replacement was sort form the crowd. Fortunately a step 7 referee was available to stand in and avoid and abandonment of the game.
The second half became a scrappy affair as the cold started to bite and the wind whipped up further. Fisher huffed and puffed for an equaliser and as the half wore on more and more of it was played deep in the hosts half. Enock Soganile and Christian Udo were introduced for a tiring Spencer and Main as Fisher searched for a winner. Julio Da Mata fired wildly over and Isaac Thompson, who was at the heart of most of Fisher’s attacking play, was guilty too of shooting without enough technique to stop the rising ball. Udo headed wide in in the last knockings Sarpong fired straight into the keepers mid-rift having burst into the box meaning Fisher had to settle for a point for all their second half dominance.
