Fisher played hosts to AJs old side last night and to be fair despite going a goal down early there was only ever going to be one winner. Hamlets had lost all three league games thus far and looked the polar opposite of a well organised Balham side that we played last Tuesday. Having now played both of the scefl leagues new teams it looks like it’s going to be a long hard season for Tower Hamlets.

They have some talented individuals in the squad but no real pattern of play at this early stage of the season. The one player we had all heard about from Hamlets was Carvalho who has been on Arsenal & Huddersfield’s books. You can see Carvalho is a real talent but De Mata kept his influence to a minimum on the night. With the connections between the two sides close you thought that the game may have turned into a blood bath with both sides throwing themselves into tackles. But this was never the case as both sides opened quite cautiously in the opening ten minutes.

First real action came when a free kick was given out on the left hand side. Jacob Katonias ball was then dropped by Chebesi. A foul was given for a shove on Chebesi. At this stage Fisher began probing and looking to make a break through. A nice move by Thomas and Coker down the right hand side had Hamlets scampering back to the edge of their box.

Shortly after Sam FitzGerald breaks up play and starts a fine move that ended up at the feet of Udo. Sadly his effort ended up going wide. A Rob Brown free kick and a corner cause more trouble. Off the back of that Hamlet find there way into the Fisher half and Fitzgerald makes a rash challenge just inside the box and the ref couldn’t wait to point to the spot. Could Carpanini pull off any more penalty heroics? On this occasion no as Adesanya fires to Carpos left to give Tower Hamlets the lead against the run of play. 0-1

Jamie Yila finds himself some space after switching wings with Coker. It was Coker who received a delicious 50 yard crossfield ball from Yila. Coker takes delivery in his stride and turns on the afterburners beating two men before bursting into the box and firing over. Tower Hamlets then go close as the right back Anderson fires high and wide of the left hand upright.

Fisher win a free kick 30 yards from goal and Rob Brown hits the target and tests the keeper. The linesman’s flag goes up!! Not sure what for, offside possibly? With three minutes until the half time whistle Fisher equalised and it was no more than Fisher and the goalscorer Udo deserved. Udo managed to get away through the middle and he hit a venomous shot that found its way into the net at mid height. That goal would now make both managers half time team talks a bit different from what they were both expecting.

HT 1-1

The half only three minutes old and Sam Fitzgerald made up for giving the penalty away by putting His side in front from a corner. He headed his effort down into the ground and the ball made its way into the net after bouncing over the stricken defenders and goalkeeper to see Fisher take the lead. 2-1

Coker began to have a good spell as he danced his way down the right hand touchline evading several challenges before picking out Christian Udo in the box. Instead of shooting Udo layed the ball off to Brown who was lurking outside the box. Brown hit his shot well enough but it took a deflection that went out for a corner. Brown took the corner but the keeper collected comfortably.

Christian Udo was having a fine game and once more he spread the ball wide to bring others into play. Yila gets fouled and Big Sam Fitz gets himself free at the far post. He side foot volleys his effort at goal but the keeper holds on to the ball. Quick fire efforts from Katonia and Coker come to nothing as the game hits a dull spell. With silly free kicks and tiredness creeping into players games.

Udo at this point had run himself into the ground for his teammates and he was replaced by fit again Wale Odedoyin. He was immediately into the action taking the ball with his back to goal he turned and fired his shot over from about 20 yards. After cramping up Coker makes way for young Gibbons who also makes his mark on the game. As the ball got away from him he made sure he left his mark on the player. Running right through him and earning himself a telling off from the ref.

Brown wins the ball in midfield and his little pass to Odedoyin was played out wide to Yila who glided past his marker and pulled the ball back for Gibbons. Gibbons shot is saved by the keeper. Yila then went on a mazy run down the right that saw him sell more tricks than a ten dollar hooker as nobody could get near him.

Rob Brown makes way for Sarpong after putting a shift in. Ojemen and Pauw both had fine games keeping Hamlets dangermen quiet. With full time closing in Thomas had to be alert when he chased back and gave away a corner that Hamlet couldn’t do anything with. Fisher managed to get some gloss on the score line when a free kick from the right was pumped in and unluckily for the Hamlet centre half he sliced his clearance into the net. 3-1

Nothing else happened during four minutes injury time. This left Fisher with their first three point haul of the season. And back to back wins that can only build confidence all around
