Fisher 6-0 Crowborough Athletic
I’m not saying it was cold yesterday but we had a polar bear turn up with a sheepskin coat on!!
Fisher were looking to win this home fixture before embarking on three tough away fixtures on the bounce.
It was my first look at Crowborough this season and fair play to there fans who made the long journey from Sussex.
The only change to the fisher line up was Harry Tobin who slotted into centre midfield in place of Luke Haidarovic.
The opening 20 minutes was a battle as much against the elements as against each other. Crowborough battled really well in midfield with the tall Tom Penfold and the slight Connor Pring winning a lot of possession in the middle of the park.
That all changed in the 24th minute as fisher won a free kick 20 yards out. It looked like a Richie Hamill left footer was required. But Rob Brown stepped up and lashed the ball into the keepers top left hand corner. An amazing strike for the in form Brown who is riding the crest of a wave at the moment.
All crowboroughs early battling ebbed away as fisher grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.
Five minutes later a Richie Hamill corner was swung in. Dan Flemming won the header at the far post. His header came back off the bar and mudi Wanogho reacted the quickest and his diving header found the back of the net.
Fisher were now in the ascendency and smelled blood in the rain water.
In the 39th minute Kushal Campbell-Palmer got himself on the score sheet with a smart finish from inside the six yard box after a pull back. A real centre forwards effort.
Fisher nearly made it four before half time as Chandler Kasai fired into the side netting when well placed.
Ht Fisher 3-0 Crowborough
I was pleased as a crowborough fan won the half time draw. At least one crowborough fan left St. Paul’s with something.
Crowborough changed there wide men at half time. And Parmont and Masakani gave a good account of themselves in the second half. Both full of running and had a trick or two. But the leagues best defence kept them at bay.
Six minutes into the second half it was four nil as Dan Flemming slotted one past the keeper. Yes with his feet!!! Both centre half’s were now on the scoresheet.
Trey Small who had replaced Ramsamy showed some brilliant touches and pirouetted past a couple of crows defenders before thumping his shot low past the keeper in the 74th minute.
There was time for a comedy moment as the ball was cut back and it was easier for Campbell-Palmer to score. But his shot went high wide and handsome.
Small put the icing on the cake in the 85th minute when he beat his man again and lifted the ball over the keeper with a sublime finish.
Some substitute appearance from Trey Small.
Harvey Brinkley and Jacob Skelly replaced Rob Brown and Chandler Kasai to give some valuable minutes to players.
There was enough time for the fans behind the goal to sing happy birthday to physio Donna Powell.
