Having beaten visitors Bearsted earlier this season in the FA Vase, Fisher went into the game looking to build on last week’s win at K Sports and record back to back victories for the first time in two season. However a lacklustre performance saw the inconsistent Fish get soundly beaten in a game of few highs.
An early indication was given when Bearsted wasted a chance in the second minute, firing over when the goal begged, but just before the quarter hour mark they made amends as Jordan Ababio, in space a plenty, hammered home a ball set back to him from just inside the box.
Fisher were given a good chance to equalise as Courtney Swaby was freed on the left but he took his shot early when space was there to run not and the rising drive flew over the bar. Minutes later and the miss was made more serious as Bearsted doubled their lead with the tall target man Andy Irvine back heeling the ball for Ababio to double his and Bearsted’s tally.
Half time came with no further score but in truth Fisher already looked down and out with many players off the pace and only a massive turn around in the second spell would allow them to get anything form the game
Fisher were better in the second spell but not by enough. Isaac Thompson flashed a drive across the goal where neither Udo nor Main could get close enough to apply a finish and then Thompson shot wide as Fisher attempted to get something to hold on to.
However any chance of recovery was shot when Ababio slipped by Sam Fitzgerald and neatly placed a low drive wide of Carpanini to convert off the far post and complete a fine hat trick.
The introduction of Sam Edwards from the bench improved Fisher’s hold in midfield and Edwards showed a good range of passing and ball retention in gaining valuable comeback minutes. Despite this injection Beartsed wrapped up the scoring with a fourth late on with left back Russo starting a powerful run from well inside his own area before splitting Fisher’s back line to feed Ababio whose cross in turn delivered a simple tap in for Sam Stace to wrap up a bad day at the office for Fisher.
