On Saturday, second half goals from Luke Haidarovic and influential substitute Max Rothwell lead the Fish to there second win at Badgers Sports ground of the season (also completing a league double over Cray Valley)
Hosts Cray took the lead in the first half against the general run of play through a well struck volley from Marcus Elliott in the 35th minute. The Fish created a handful of chances in the first 45 minutes although a robust defensive display from the hosts was enough to see the Millers hold the lead until the break.
The second half saw Cray Valley begin to tire as the Fish dominated midfield, with Rob Curtis adding extra strength in the middle of the park alongside the ever present Daniel Lawson. Curtis, who was on the receiving end of a rough challenge in the first half, was replaced by Max Rothwell as the Fish went in hunt of an equaliser. Jeff Allen, Shelton Gooden and Will Agbo each showed a balance of creativity and desire which outclassed the hosts throughout the ninety minutes.
A fluent move in the 67th minute set up Luke Haidarovic who was able to beat the hosts goalkeeper and notch his third goal of an injury plagued season. The Fish looked the more likely to score, with Shelton Gooden causing chaos to the Millers defence, but it was Max Rothwell who clinched the three points in the 11 minutes from time, with a powerful high drive from close range. The Fish didn’t leave it there however, and continued to press forward. Their efforts were to no avail but a solid display from Joel Hannington between the posts ensure a one goal lead was enough to earn the three points.
