Fisher 1 - 1 Holmesdale
Saturday 27 December 2014 - 15:00

Fisher and Holmesdale treated a season’s best attendance to a Christmas cracker when the two sides met at Champion Hill on Saturday.
Two minutes in to the game, after a poor pass, Fisher lost possession in midfield, Holmesdale got the ball forward and a deceptive shot along the ground from Benga Ogunseye slipped passed Justin Lee to put the visitors ahead.
As Fisher settled in to the game they began to ask questions of Holmesdale’s defence, but the best of the early efforts were sent high and wide by Alfie Roche.
In the 19th minute, a well-placed pass released Calvin Ekpiteta down the right wing, who sent a curling lobbed effort over Holmesdale’s goalkeeper to level the scores. With the scores now at 1-1 both sides went in search of the lead, it was Fisher who looked more threatening and it was only through a superb block on the line that Holmesdale kept the scores level.
As both sides continued to press forward Justin Lee was called into action on a few occasions and produced some fine saves to deny Holmesdale the lead.
With the scores still level at the break, the second half picked up in the same vein of both sides pushing for a goal. Fisher introduced Troy Abbey early in the second half which added pace down the left side, and caused several issues for the visitors back line. Time and time again Abbey was released and it was only down to some stout defending and a few wasteful passes that Holmesdale were able to keep things level. The Fish then tried to break down the right wing but couldn’t produce a cross capable of finding anyone in a striped shirt.
Things came to life late on after a short tame spell as Holmesdale forced some more good saves from Justin Lee as the Fish struggled to clear the danger from a couple of corners. Fisher created one last spell of pressure which culminated in a well struck effort bouncing off the bottom of the far post and back out.
The draw leaves the Fish in 17th place going into a short break from league action (the next league game is away at Erith & Belvedere on January 10th).
