Abbo – Not about the result
Gary Abbott was naturally disappointed to see Fisher succumb to a two goal defeat at home to Otford United in his first game back at the helm, but was still upbeat following the match.
“It wasn’t about the result today. It was just about the shape and looking at a lot of players. We’ve had 27, 28 players involved and to get a team in 10 days is difficult, but we’re getting there. We now narrow it down, work hard and prepare for Rochester.”
Abbo, working alongside new first team coach Isa Hussain, seems confident that his First XI is falling into place – “In my head there’s a starting line up with 9 players, so it’s sorting out the other 2 and the boys for the bench. We’ll sort that out over the week.”
Asked if there was a message to share with the fans ahead of the SCEFL Premier League curtain raiser at home to Rochester United on Saturday 13 August, Gary replied “Just turn up next Saturday! Forget about the result today, get right behind us next week. It’s all about 3 points next Saturday, that’s where it all starts.”
