Match Preview – Bearsted v Fisher

This Saturday the Fish make the trip towards Maidstone to take on Bearsted, last season’s Kent Invicta League Champions. The Bears have come up to the SCE Premier on a wave of optimism, which was enhanced by an AET victory against Glebe in the pre-season Invicta Challenge Shield. The Bears came out 3-2 winners, goals coming from Sam Flisher, Brad Webb and Andy Hart.

In the League Bearsted have found going a little tougher than expected thus far, with the step up in pace almost catching them out at home to Croydon on the opening day. The home side fell behind, before a Webb penalty dug them out to earn a point.

Midweek the Bears hit the road, going down 1-0 to our opening day opponents Rochester United. Whilst they haven’t set the league on fire yet we will need to guard against an inevitable backlash from Bearsted, who will still have the confidence in their abilities running through from last season.

Danger men to keep an eye out for at the Otham Sports Ground on Saturday are the lively forward Webb and former Hollands & Blair midfielder Flisher.
