Match Preview – Fisher v Sevenoaks Town

The Fish get back to St Paul’s on Saturday afternoon looking to put the long trip to Whitstable in the past, welcoming 5th place Sevenoaks Town with the hope of getting points on the board to start climbing the SCEFL Premier Division table.

Micky Collins’ Sevenoaks side have impressed so far this season, with the second meanest defence in the league – conceeding only 13 goals across 8 wins and 3 defeats. Over their last 5 league games they have won 4, slipping to defeat last time out against top of the pile Ashford United. Strong wins against Lordswood, Bearsted and Erith Town have actually worked in Fisher’s favour, keeping those around us scrabbling for results too.

Byron Walker leads the scoring charts with 8 goals in 12 games, closely followed by Billy Bennett who has 8 in 5. Dangerous left winger Kieron McCann dominated Sevenoaks last home game at Greatness Park, creating two goals in the 4-0 win against Lordswood, and will be a threat down the channel.

Last season all six points went to Sevenoaks in our meetings, with a 1-0 at Greatness Park and a 0-3 at Champion Hill helping our visitors finish 5th at the end of the campaign.

Turnstiles will be open from 1.45pm as usual, with the Clubhouse open for hot drinks (including the hugely popular new additions of Hot Chocolate and Bovril), soup, soft drinks and snacks. We are delighted to confirm that the Clubhouse Bar will be serving locally brewed Fourpure Brewing Co. beers once again, with their Pils Lager, American Pale and Session IPA all available at just £3 a can.

The Fisher Super Draw will be back with the chance to win £25 and you can get involved as a Member for just £10. Programmes will be available for £1.50. The Fisher Club Shop will be open in the Clubhouse with some last bits of old memorabilia including match posters, programmes, badges and retro playing kit (including a couple of Fisher Athletic shirts!). If we aren’t let down by the post you will also be able to pick up a new Classic Design Fisher Scarf for just £8 to ensure your neck is both warm and stylish this winter!
