Match Preview – Fisher v Croydon

The Fish are back in action at St Paul’s today, welcoming Croydon for our Community Fundraising Day. With last weekend’s game against Tunbridge Wells snowed off, Dean and the team will be looking to get back into the swing of competitive football straight away, with the focus of escaping the drop zone still in sharp focus. Fisher are just four points away from safety, so bringing home three of them today would make a huge difference.

Back in September The Trams took the points at the Croydon Arena, turning over a very different looking Fisher side 3-1, Troy Abbey finishing a great passing move for the visitors. Over recent weeks it’s been a mixed bag for Croydon, with their last six games reading three wins and three defeats. The bigger story with the visitors at the moment is unfortunately off the field, with the departure of Chairman and Manager Dickson Gill last month raising issues on both the football and business side.

Goals are one thing that haven’t been missing for Croydon, with Jeff Dual-Kessie chipping in with 15 in all competitions so far. Andrew Mott has 6, including a brace recently against Lordswood, whilst  Karl Douglin has 9 in all competitions, including 3 spot kicks.

Away from the action on the pitch at St Paul’s, today the club will be holding several events during the day to raise money for Southwark based breast cancer charity CoppaFeel, including an appearance from our Head of Community Development will be making an appearance is a CoppaFeel “boobsuit” before following up the days activities by running the Tunbridge Wells half marathon the next day. We are also delighted to be welcoming the children from our neighbours Peter Hills School as our matchday mascots. Alongside our popular ‘Fish for a Fiver’ offer we are also encouraging more female fans to join us for today’s breast cancer fundraising events, with reduced entry of just £5 for all female Fisher fans!

Turnstiles will be open from around 1.45pm as usual for a 3pm kick off. As previously announced, the Club are delighted to confirm the extension of our ‘Fish for a Fiver’ offer for Premier League and Football League season ticket holders until the end of the 2016/17 campaign, so it is only £5 on the turnstile on production of a season ticket. The Clubhouse will be open for hot drinks (now with Hot Chocolate and Bovril), soup, noodles, soft drinks and snacks. Beers will come from local brewery Fourpure Brewing Co. as ever, alongside a few guest beers for the day.

The Fisher Super Draw will be back with the chance to win £25, and our ever popular Matchday Programme will be available for £1.50. The Fisher Club Shop will be open in the Clubhouse with our new Mugs and Enamel Badges, and the must have fashion accessory for a chilly Saturday afternoon – the Fisher Scarf!
