Match preview: Fisher v Kent Football United

Fisher are back to cup duties on Tuesday 3rd with another home encounter against Kent Football United in the first round of the SCEFL Challenge Cup.

And it’s a very different Fisher, both in style and temperament, from the last time these two teams met at St Paul’s at the beginning of the season. Gone are the nerves and uncertainties that allowed KFU their win in the first game of the season and what we are witnessing now is a Fisher side buzzing with energy and ideas, flourishing with every game they play.

It was a self-assured Fisher that confidently took three points away from Sutton at the weekend to put us one point behind KFU in the table with a game in hand. Tellingly KFU lost 2-1 at home against the very same Sutton side just a week previously.

Of course cup games are unpredictable affairs so it’s never easy to judge the outcome based current league stats. It will be a tight and tactical game that much is expected and if there is a strong home crowd to cheer the lads on then there will be absolutely nothing to prevent the Fish proceeding into the next round.
