Match preview: Fisher v Snodland Town

October’s not been the best of months for the Fish. Despite starting on a high with a convincing 2-1 SCEFL Challenge Cup win at home to Kent Football United [match report: http://www.fisherfc.org/fixture_and_result/scefl-challenge-cup-1st-round/] we struggled to assert ourselves during the following game with Forest Hill Park

What should have been a comfortable win for the Fish against a struggling FHP in the table eventually turned into an unexpected defeat at home [match report: http://www.fisherfc.org/fixture_and_result/fisher-vs-forest-hill-park/]

This perhaps had a knock-on effect as the Fish went down against Cray Valley 3-0 the following week in another cup game, this time Kent Reliance Senior Trophy [match report: http://www.fisherfc.org/2017/10/16/match-report-cray-valley-3-0-fisher/]. It was a disastrous game and there are really no excuses, the Fish can and should do better than this.

With a dip in confidence and back-to-back defeats, the long trip down the Thames to Sheppey in yet another cup match didn’t look like an inviting prospect. It was though the fighting Fish we know and love that took to the field in windy Sheerness. Not only was it a strong, gutsy performance from the lads, battling against the odds, it was a game we could and should have won.

Let’s hope the frustrations of previous games aren’t on show today as we play host to an in form Snodland Town. The Kent side are riding high in the table and will obviously be coming to St Paul’s to consolidate their position in the top three. The Fish though are back to full strength fitness-wise and if we can hold our nerve and focus on the positives – if we win today we can potentially move up into fifth place, and return to our winning ways.
