Match preview: Fisher v KFU

We’ve officially got ourselves a three horse race for the title. And while K Sports and Punjab United have a 6 and 7 point lead on us respectively we’ve still have to play both clubs away at the beginning of March which could put a completely different complexion on things if we beat them.

The 2-2 draw with K Sports last weekend was an emotional rollercoaster for everyone involved –  an incredible game of football by two teams at the peak of their abilities. The absolute joy and relief of the players and fans showed in the Fish’s second goal celebration and summed up the mood of the afternoon perfectly (watch it here:  https://twitter.com/John84Green/status/959853809550921729)

Everyone presumed that would be the last kick of the game but hadn’t reckoned on the ref’s version of fergie-time. The visitors took full advantage of time added on and snatched the equaliser in the 97th minute with an easily converted penalty. Agonising in the extreme.

We’re back at St Paul’s this weekend for another tight challenge against fifth place Kent Football United. K Sports are certain of a win against bottom of the table Crockenhill and Punjab United take on mid-table Erith & Belvedere.

The level of support and atmosphere created by the fans will be crucial in the coming months. Millwall play friday so there’s no excuses for all those Lions fan who see Fisher as their second club to make it down to St Paul’s and make some noise. We need a bit of that Millwall spirit added to a bit of Fisher magic to see us through.
