Yes it’s still early days but there’s nothing as rewarding as seeing the Fisher fouth in the table after a convincing win against Crowborough at the weekend. As away performances go it was tight and clinical, a reminder of how the Fish can play when at full strength.
It was new boy Mudiagha Wanogho who scored first from a set piece in the first half followed by a rash of goals in the second – from the ever sparkling Jamie Brown, Sam Pekun (who is turning into a goal scorer extraordinaire) and a 90 min penalty from the streamroller boot of Ritchie Hamill.
This Tuesday Fisher host fellow south-east Londoners Erith Town – currently sitting mid-table. As with all south london derbies you can never predict the result but with the energy in the dressing room the way it is, and the team performing on the pitch the way they are, it looks like it’s going to be night of spectacular football down in Rotherhithe. Don’t think it’s unfair to mention the last time we played Erith at St Paul’s in April last year it was a 10-1 demolition.
As ever the gates open 6.30pm and the Fisherman’s Rest will be serving hot food and drink throughout the game, so get down early and keep you eyes fixed on the goals.
