Match preview: Fisher v Rusthall – Saturday 26 January – 2pm kick-off

On paper this doesn’t look too much of a challenge for the Fish, Rusthall are currently sitting on the bottom of the division with only one win to their name all season. We’ve already beaten them twice, once away from home and a convincing 4-1 Cup win in December at St Paul’s.

Yes they’re struggling but that only means they’ve got nothing to lose when they make the return trip to Rotherhithe this saturday. It’s always dangerous to underestimate a team fighting for survival. For us it will be an opportunity to consolidate an already impressive winning season and increase our goal difference (we’ve still got the best defensive record in the Premiership) and hopefully add a few more names to the score sheet.

In terms of what else is going on at the top of the table this weekend – league leaders Corinthian host a glum looking Hollands & Blair and Beckenham are away to Punjab United (who come to St Paul’s early in February) so barring miracles, flukes and injuries there isn’t going to be much movement for the top three places. That said we can guarantee an exciting and entertaining afternoon of football by one of the best Fisher sides we’ve had in a long time. For that alone it’s worth the trip.
