Fisher FC AGM – Wednesday 24 June (via Zoom)

Dear friend of Fisher FC,

We hope you are all keeping safe and healthy in the current circumstances. You may have seen on social media that the club’s AGM will take place next week: details of how to join are set out below, along with an update from the club and information about membership for season 2020/2021.

Update from the club

Unlike some of the other clubs at our level, Fisher FC does not have a large player wage bill or an expensive ground to maintain, and so remains in good health despite the pandemic. While we lost the revenue from our remaining home matches, our outgoings were also cut as it was no longer possible to train and there were no matchday expenses. Rest assured that the club will ready and raring to go whenever the SCEFL Premier Division is able to resume. Currently we have no information about when that might be, but we will keep you updated via our social media feeds and website as always.

After a difficult start, season 2019-2020 was halted just as first team manager, Ajay Ashanike, had found a settled side and begun to pick up real momentum. Ajay has been keeping in regular contact with all of the squad. So far, all of them have managed to avoid the virus, and they are all keeping well. Ajay also reports that they are all keen to continue playing for Fisher once next season is able to begin, which is great news. It will be a real advantage to be able to start pre-season with a settled squad and look to add one or two faces, rather than have to construct an entire squad from scratch like last summer, and we’ll be looking to hit the ground running.

AGM details – 24 June at 7pm

The club’s AGM will take place next Wednesday 24 June at 7pm. Given the circumstances, we are obviously unable to hold it in person, so we have set up a Zoom online meeting.

There are two ways to attend the AGM:

  1. By video link using a computer or smartphone

To join the meeting by video (meaning you will be able to see everyone else on the screen), simply click on the following link at 7pm next Wednesday: https://gibsondunn.zoom.us/j/99208803139

If you are on a computer, this should take you straight into the meeting – if it is your first time using Zoom, you may need to enter your name first. If you are joining via a smartphone, you may be prompted to download the Zoom app before you can join. If you follow the instructions on screen, this should hopefully be a relatively straight forward process!

  1. By phone (mobile or landline)

Alternatively, you can join the meeting by phone using one of the following phone numbers: 0203 481 5237 (charged at local rates) or 0800 358 2817 (freephone). You will then be asked to enter the Meeting ID, which is: 992 0880 3139

We appreciate that this is not ideal, and that many of you would prefer to be able to attend a meeting in person, but we hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join in this way. If you are having any issues joining, please let us know on the night.

As in previous years, the AGM will consist of two parts: in the first, we will deal with the approval of the minutes of last year’s AGM, the election of directors and the presentation of the accounts, and the second part will be the less formal member forum during which we will hear from Ajay and there will be a Q&A discussion.

Membership for season 2020/2021

As a fan-owned club, our membership scheme is one of the most important ways in which you can contribute to and engage with the club. It is also a significant revenue stream to help keep the club going, and this is all the more important in the current circumstances. We are therefore opening our membership renewals for season 2020/2021.

Membership confers the following benefits:

  • Membership Card, newly designed for the 2020/2021 season
  • Right to stand for election to the board
  • Right to vote at club AGM
  • £1 off gate entry at Fisher FC match-days
  • £10 off season ticket price for new season
  • Own the club – one membership equates to one equal share

The price of membership has been frozen once again at £20. To become a member for the new season, you can pay via:

  • The following PayPal link: http://www.fisherfc.org/membership/
  • By electronic transfer to the club’s bank account (sort code 08-92-99, account no. 65355842, in the name of Fisher Supporters’ Association).

If paying by bank transfer, please use your surname as a reference. For bank transfers and PayPal payments, please also confirm payment by replying to this email with your full name and address, so that we can post our your card.

Once we are able to resume playing matches, it will also be possible to pay for membership in cash or via bank card.

Volunteers

As we stress every year, we rely very heavily on our hard-working volunteers to keep the club going. We are urgently looking for new volunteers to work behind the bar in the clubhouse and to help operate the turnstiles once matches resume. Please let us know if you would be able to help out, or if you know of anyone who could. All other offers of help are gratefully received, too – whatever skillset you have, we can certainly put it to good use! Just reply to this email, or contact the club on Twitter or Facebook.

The entire club would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. Without you the club would not exist, and we hope to see as many of you as possible at the club AGM next Wednesday 24 June at 7pm.

Stay safe and well,

Fisher FC
