SCEFL statement – season starts on Saturday September 5th

Southern Counties East Football League have issued a statement to confirm the new season will begin on Saturday 5th September. The Board met on wednesday 22 July to agree a list of key points before the league’s annual general meeting at the end of July.

The most important obviously is that we now have a start date for the season which allows the club to prepare the stadium for competitive league games and keep fans informed and updated on the conditions imposed by the FA that will allow us to have public crowds at St Paul’s.

The SCEFL Board met last night and as a result can provide the following update.

The board of directors can confirm that, as things stand, the Southern Counties East League season will start on Saturday September 5.

It is one of a series of key dates agreed at the latest board meeting.

1. The league’s annual general meeting will be held remotely on Friday July 31 with full details to be sent to clubs shortly.

2. Given the likelihood that all matters will not be finalised by this date, the league have also proposed an EGM for Thursday August 13.

3. Player registrations will be accepted by the league’s registration secretary from Saturday August 1.

4. Given the shortened season, the FA Cup and Vase competitions taking place and the indication that county cups could also be played, the board have decided not to proceed with the Challenge Cup for the 2020/21 season.

All of the above, of course, is subject to change should circumstances regarding COVID-19 alter, and further guidance is released by the FA.
