AWAYDAYS: Punjab United v Fisher – Sat 19 Feb 22
We’re back on the road again this weekend as we travel to Gravesend to take on Punjab United in what is always a fan favourite fixture. Always guaranteed a warm welcome.
HOW TO GET THERE
Punjab United play their home games at Steve Cook Stadium which is located just south of Gravesend, 20 miles out of London on the Thames estuary. The ground itself was recently re-named in memory of their former groundsman.
CAR
Several ways to go by car, each relatively straight forward run out from south London but the quickest route is the A2 all the way down to Gravesend. As you approach Gravesend take a left off the A2 at Singlewell and continue round the roundabouts following the signs for Gravesend. After the second roundabout drive down Gravesend East Junction (Valley Drive), and after around half a mile, take the left towards Whitehill Lane. Take the immediate left down Christian Fields Avenue, and Dunkirk Close is on the left, where the pitch is located. Car Park, and dressing rooms are adjacent to the pitch.
TRAIN
Closest station to the ground is Gravesend. Cheapest fare is £14.40 – off-peak day return, and the journey time is just over an hour with no changes. You can go from most south-bound London stations. Check here for times and ticket purchases: https://www.thetrainline.com/
From the station it’s a 2.25m walk to the ground. There’s a number of taxi services that operate outside the station. Here’s a list of options and phone numbers: https://directory.kentlive.news/search/gravesend%2Ckent/taxis
BUSES

You need to catch the bus from the Clock Tower in the town centre (a short walk from the station), get off at the Livingstone Road stop and walk down that road to the ground. THE FORM
Punjab sit 3 places below us in the league with uneven results so far this year although their most recent game was expectional win away to Crowborough. Neither of us has had a competitive game since the 8th February so fitness and focus may well be the key elements to who comes out on top on saturday. As ever a healthy and noisy away crowd always does wonders to a travelling Fisher squad so if you can makes saturday’s game this is the game to be at.
