Match preview: Fisher vs Gravesham Borough

Fisher come into this game buoyed by the excellent results over the bank holiday weekend. If Erith & Belvedere’s 0-0 away draw was a case of digging deep and refusing to accept defeat – a second half masterclass of gutsy heads-down determination by the Fish, then the game against Stansfeld was pure footballing delight, a team finding their stride and making the most of the opportunities they created.

Harry Draper’s opening eight minute goal was a beautifully struck ball that glided past the keeper and set the tone for the rest of the match. Even when Standsfeld equalised mid-way through the first half it was Ritchie Hamill’s forty minute winner that proved the highlight in front of a noisy record crowd at St Paul’s (a massive 191 fans – the 4th highest attendance in the country for step 6 clubs) in a well earned victory that saw us move up into 16th place.

And if the Fish can pull out the same kind of performance against Gravesham it means we potentially jump even further up the table. But this Kent side shouldn’t be underestimated. Yes they’re currently sitting bottom without a win to their name but that will only make them more determined to take some points away from St Paul’s this saturday. The Fish can’t afford to be complacent. We know what we need to do.
