AWAYDAYS: Hollands & Blair v Fisher – Sat 15 Jan 22

Latest information we have our end is this game is definitely on [we’ll let you know if that changes before saturday] so we’re looking to take a decent crowd with us down to Kent this weekend, and hopefully we can build on our growing away support despite the recent break.

This will be our first away game of 2022 and we still want to make that FISHER50 – 50 supporters coming with us on a regular basis to away games by the end of the season. If you love watching the Fish at St Paul’s you’ll love it even more on the road – and the players do genuinely appreciate it when they see so many fans are willing to travel.

HOW TO GET THERE
Hollands and Blair are based in Gillingham and the ground is nestled by a golf course just to the south of the town centre.
Because it’s one of the big Medway towns travelling there is pretty easy – a run out straight down the a2 if coming by car (the car park entrance is just after The Star pub car park. The post code for Sat Nav is ME7 3AP) or a simple train journey leaving from London Bridge/Deptford/Greenwich on Southeastern trains.

Trains take about 1h 30m to Gillingham station with no changes. Cheapest advance ticket is £13.60 return (though limited availability), cheapest day return is £18.60 and trains are every half hour. Check here for times and ticket purchases: https://www.thetrainline.com/

From the station it’s a mile and a half walk to the ground, which should take around 30 minutes. Alternatively you can get the182 bus from the town centre but will only take you half the distance with the final 15 minute walk by the golf course to the ground.

There are a number of taxi services, Windmill Taxis are nearest to the station, check their website for details: https://vokestaxis.co.uk/

MATCHDAY
Admission price is £8 (concessions are available), and the programme is £2. The clubhouse serves a selection of beers and soft drinks although the bar isn’t situated pitchside or within view of the pitch. But the tea bar (the wonderful Shirley’s Shack) is open inside ground – selling burgers, hot dogs & bacon rolls + hot & cold drinks.

WEATHER OUTLOOK
We’re not expecting rain on saturday, although it will be a cold one with light cloud and light winds, so Fish hat and scarf combo is recommended standard attire.

THE FORM
The Blairs sit one place above in the league, just 2 points ahead, and have been on a bit of a winning streak of late so they will have something to prove, although we’re both evenly matched in terms of goals scored and games lost so far this season. One plus is they do seem to concede more goals at home than score, something we can turn to our advantage. And which is also why taking a noisy crew of away support is crucial – make sure we give ourselves the best chance of coming away with the 3 points and leapfrog over the Blairs up the table. So if you fancy a great day out, with some sparkling football and a bit of Fish banter to boot, this one is definitely one to make.
See you all saturday!
