Hackney Wick 0-0 Fisher
Tuesday 4 July 2023
A very wet evening in North London ended in stalemate as a Fisher side made up almost completely of trialists were held to goalless draw by Hackney Wick.
A torrential downpour shortly before kick off saw a reduced warm up and possibly this was factor in a low key frst half that saw chances few and far between for both sides. The home side probably just edged the half, though they were aided by several mistakes at the back from Fisher almost gifting them openings. In goal, trialist Khiami Shombe showed confident handling and good positioning throughout to blunt out any chances and some wayward shooting from the hosts forwards also contributed to the goal less score at the break and when Shombe was beaten Storm Glautier was well placed to block to the line.
The second spell saw Fisher almost snatch the lead immediately with the home keeper rushing out wide of his goal grateful to see Kyron Cooper’s chipped effort just float over the bar. The best chance of the game fell late on to a Hackney player with a free header at the back post, but he planted his effort wide of the post. Fisher forced several late corners but lacked any real presence in the area, which coupled with poor delivery meant they amounted to nothing and with the hosts wasting several breakways in the dying minutes the match ended without a goal.
